Custom Rustic Furniture

My collection of drift, rescued, reclaimed, recycled, recovered, exotic, and unique wood pieces are a treasury of potential. Each furniture piece is ready to contribute its uniqueness in collaboration between artist, material, and client. My found wood gifts from the environment are artistically joined and crafted to produce custom furniture of collector quality – pieces of functional art.

From my earlier days as a finish carpenterm, I always led to building precise custom furniture much of what was from the bungalow era. From living in the mountain communities of Northern California and now in North Idaho, adding a rustic twist using reclaimed/ recycled materials has become my love of work. Always striving to be a perfectionist in all aspects of my life, creating with using recycled, reclaimed, found treasures of wood and metal materials, has helped me to ease up on myself to create functional art pieces.

Because of what it took when showing in an art festival, I'd been seeking something that could be just as enjoyable to create with using recycled and reclaimed materials and fit into my functional art style. Art that was simpler when transporting and creating ease of setting up my booth, I was introduced to Cigar Box Guitars. Creating guitars added a new tone to my work, as well as lightness of product. Besides using recycled cigar boxes, I began using my stored and organized collection of left over hardwood scraps from previous cabinet projects. I have named these guitars "Pak Rat Guitars" from all the wood and hardware treasures I've packed around and collected world wide over the years. Although these guitars are often collected as wall           art, professional musicians have noted they sound great as well.

I work with clients to discover their unique needs then suggest creative solutions drawn from my years of experience. My input helps to make each project highly functional and my artistic attention to detail insures each piece will be beautiful.

Relocating to Sandpoint, Idaho in 1992, I created my cabinet and furniture business called "Creative Wood Ventures." Enjoying my work in the wood industry for 39 years, besides designing and building wood art, I also harvest and mill locally grown trees that may otherwise be buried in landfills or burnt. Having a love for what trees contribute to our planet. I have planted more trees than I will ever harvest.  Other enjoyments  include organic gardening, exploring the world thru travel, teaching and learning.
